Stop overeating - Part 3

This is part 3 of the Stop overeating series.

If you haven't read the part 1 and part 2, please read them first.

Part 1, I talked about the over desire for food and how willpower does not work when it comes to stop overeating.

Part 2, I talked about the over hunger and how the food we're eating is messing up our hormones and making us hungry all the time.

Today, part 3, I want to talk about emotional eating, and how our feelings make us overeat.

Apart of the physiological side that is creating the over desire and over hunger and makes us overeat, we also have our emotional life that plays a big part in how much we're eating and what we're eating.

We were never taught how to deal with our emotions when we were kids.

Nobody taught us how to feel bored or frustrated.

We deal with negative emotions the way we know, and for most of us is by overeating.

You feel bored, you eat.

You feel stressed, you eat.

You feel frustrated, you eat.

You feel happy, you eat.

You feel excited, you eat.

Basically, we're eating our emotions instead of feeling them.

So, when you eat instead of feeling a negative emotion, you're not sending the pain away... you're delaying it.

You're just saying no to pain now, and accepting the pain later.

Having negative emotions is part of being human, being alive.

You can't experience a happiness without feeling the sadness.

We need the contrast. + / -

Our culture, nowadays, have us conditioned to feel happy all of the time, so when we're not happy we think there is something wrong with us.

There is nothing wrong with you. You are just human.

I want you to think about this concept I'm going to teach you.

50% of life will suck. It will be negative, bad, and horrible things will happen.

50% of life will be great. It will be positive, good, and amazing things will happen.

It's 50/50!

That means that we don't have to be happy all of the time.

It's ok not to be ok.

It's normal to feel sad, lonely, bored.

The problem is that we are sad because we're sad.

We're anxious about our anxiety.

So, instead of having a 50/50 life, you're transferring part of the 50% of the good part and putting into the 50% of the bad.

Maybe it's 80/20 or even 100/0.

And if you go to food to feel better, it perpetuates the negative cycle of overeating.

There's nothing wrong in feeling emotional pain. Say yes to it. Allow it. Feel it. Let it be the 50% bad, instead of 80% or 100%.

Open space for the 50% good we are allowed in this life.

Using food to escape from emotional pain has no upsides.

If you use the tools I teach to unwind the negative emotions and learn how to manage your stress, overwhelm or frustration, you won't need to escape it with food.

You won't need to use food to feel better.

Here is what you can do.

- Be aware of emotional eating. What feeling are you trying to numb using food?

- Write all your thoughts and feelings on a journal. Brain dump onto paper.

- Allow the emotion instead of eating. Learn more about it and see what is causing this emotion (spoil alert- it's your thoughts)

- Book a free consult call with me and let's walk through the reasons why you're feeling this way.

No one leaves the consult call feeling the same way.

This consult call is the best Christmas gift you can give to yourself, it's free.

What do you have to lose?
