The first step to change

Everyone wants to change something in their lives.

 

Even if we're not aware of what we want to change.

 

There're 2 things we mainly want to change.

1. Circumstances

2. Feelings

 

Everything we do is because of the way we feel.

 

We want to lose weight, so we can feel happier.

We want to eat healthy, so we can feel energised.

We want to exercise, so we can feel fit.

We want to feel in control of our lives all the time.

 

We want to change the circumstances to feel better.

Just because we think that the circumstances are causing our feelings.

 

But that doesn't usually work, because there're circumstances that are impossible to change.

 

So, how can we change the way we feel without changing the circumstances?

 

The first step to change is awareness.

Aware of what? Our thoughts.

 

Imagine that your mind is a house.

This house is dirty, needs to be cleaned up, but there's no light on.

You want to clean the house, but with no lights you can't see where to start cleaning, or where the dirt is.

You'll need to turn the lights on first.

 

That's awareness. We need to turn the light on in our minds first to change anything.

 

Without awareness you can't change.

 

Then you can ask me... But Pam, why do I need to know what I'm thinking? What my weight has to do with my thoughts?

 

I answer: Everything! Because your thoughts create your feelings.

If you want to change how you feel, you need to know what you're thinking first. 

 

So, being aware of your thoughts will help you change your weight, eating habits, and everything else.

 

Awareness is the first step! Be aware of your thoughts.
