Last week during a free consult, the lady told me: "I'm aware I need to lose weight, but I'm not motivated."
I got confused. She reached out to me. She booked the call.
She picked up the phone and spent an hour talking to me.
Yet, she thinks she is not motivated to lose weight.
So interested right?
I want you to imagine all the films you've watched, all the books you've read.
Why did you watch and read all of them?
Because we (humans) love stories.
And that's how we connect and relate with the world.
The brain loves stories too.
We're always telling stories to ourselves, about others and about us.
We're usually believing in those stories.
The story this lady is telling herself is that she can only lose weight if she is feeling motivated.
How many times we think we need to be feeling in a certain way to do what we need to do?
For me, at least 1000 times.
But how many times we have to do things even when we don't feel like doing it?
Another 1000 times.
I didn't feel like cleaning my flat yesterday, but I did.
I didn't feel like exercising last week, but I did.
I didn't feel like saying no to chocolate, but I did.
If I expect to be feeling like eating healthy and exercise so I can lose weight, I'll be a fat person.
Because it's uncomfortable.
We don't want to feel uncomfortable.
But if you want to lose weight, you don't need to be feeling motivated 100% of the time, you just need to be willing to feel uncomfortable and do it anyway.
Stop telling yourself stories like that.
Change the script.
Do it even when you don't feel like it.
And see what happens.
